Apple reintroduced glass on metal frames starting from iPhone 8 and later models. These design changes were implemented to support wireless charging and gain several advantages that come with it, along with MagSafe charging from iPhone 12 and above models. However, apart from the elegant looks, the back glass is prone to crack after falling on a hard surface.
You may choose this repair if: your back glass/frame is cracked or broken or you need to go for a new color.
The back of your iPhone, also known as full housing, rear housing, back case, back glass, or back glass assembly, has a hardened glass that is precision cut to seamlessly fit into the frame, which blends into the smooth edges of the metal frame. The back glass is further reinforced by an internal laser-welded steel and copper structure. Finally, the glass is fused to the metal frame of your iPhone, which is microscopically sealed for water and dust resistance. Hence, if you break your iPhone back glass, the complete back case assembly must be changed.
Note: Replacing just the back glass involves removing the broken glass from the metal frame, applying some adhesive, and gluing the glass on the frame. The manual process and the quality of workmanship are not perfect compared to machine installation done at the factory. As a result, substandard installation and inferior quality of the back glass make the iPhone prone to liquid damage easily compared to rear housing replacement. Hence, if your back glass breaks, we strongly recommend replacing the rear housing rather than replacing just the back glass.
If you visit our store in Dubai, it will take about 2 to 3 hours to replace the complete rear housing with a new one depending on parts availability. Please call the store you will be visiting to check for stock availability before arriving.
We use genuine rear housing in our repairs, the same part that came with your iPhone when it was new. The replacement back we provide as part of the repair may contain a new or previously used genuine Apple rear housing that has been tested to ensure it meets functional requirements. This allows us to deliver the same high-quality service the repair industry can offer.
The pricing in this chart only applies to rear housing replacement. This repair does not carry any warranty, the rear housing does not have any moving parts, nor it has any electronics. We will do a pre-quality test before and after the repair. If you have any other problem with your iPhone, you’ll pay additional costs. We offer up to a 50% discount on the second part and up to a 75% discount on the third part used for the same iPhone.

Your iPhone will lose its water resistance if the back glass is cracked. Water and electronics don’t do well together. iPhones have a built-in battery, and water gets through the cracks and into the phone; the electric current can be sent to places that it shouldn’t go, and that causes damage. Apple introduced back glass to support wireless charging starting with iPhone 8, the first iPhone model to have wireless charging. Wireless charging transfers energy from the charger to the iPhone through electromagnetic induction to the coil located inside the back of the iPhone. The reason it needs a back glass is that there isn’t a piece of metal affecting the electricity going through and charging the phone.
Apple introduced a new protective glass coating called Ceramic Shield, starting from iPhone 12. Ceramic shield promises up to 4x better drop resistance than previous iPhones, general scratch resistance, and clear optical performance for your iPhone rear cameras. The key technology in the protective glass is ceramic crystals. These small ceramic nanocrystals are embedded in the glass matrix using a high-temperature crystallization manufacturing process. The interlocking structure of crystals helps to deflect cracks and chips.
If your iPhone’s back glass is moderately cracked, it will not have any performance impact. However, a tiny crack or chip can quickly expand and cause additional damage to your iPhone. Broken glass can cut your hands and fingers and make it harder to use your iPhone. Additionally, your iPhone loses its water resistance, and if water gets through the cracks and into the phone, the electric current can be sent to places it shouldn’t go, and that causes damage.
