In the past few years, it was a common joke to say, “well sir, have you tried switching if off and on again?”. Surprisingly enough, many problems can be resolved through simply restarting an iPhone or the iPad. Even veteran Apple users sometimes don’t know how to hard reset their device, so we thought we should cover this topic.
For all iPhone and iPad models (with physical home button), excluding iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus:
Simply hold the power button and the home button together till the Apple logo appears. Then, let the device complete its sequence. If this does not resolve the issue you were facing, then it would be a good idea to restore it to an older backup. We will cover the steps for that in our upcoming blogs. However, if you are facing this issue already, call us on 04-4541416 and our expert technicians will resolve it for you.
Hard resetting iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus:
The new generation iPhone does not feature a physical home button, so the steps above will not work for it. In this, you must press the power/lock button on the right of the device and the volume down button on the left of the device. Keep holding both the buttons together till the screen shuts off and the Apple logo appears.
We recommend that before hard resetting your iPhone or iPad, take a backup of your device either on your Mac/PC or on iCloud.
